the screen is a bright bar
that never closes.
Help me know
when to walk out.
that never closes.
Help me know
when to walk out.
The scams come simple:
fast money,
urgent calls,
pretty lies.
Give me the sense
to say no
before I say anything else.
Guard my accounts
like a good rifle:
clean, ready,
never left lying around.
Guard my words
like a good story:
short, honest,
not written in anger.
When the news breaks
and everyone shouts,
teach me to wait
for a second source,
a clearer picture,
a cooler head.
And when I have stayed up
too late with this glow,
pouring myself
into nothing,
remind me
that the real work,
the real people,
the real day
are waiting elsewhere.
Let me steward this digital life
the way I’d handle a boat
in bad weather:
steady hands,
few words,
eyes open,
and no bravado.
